What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding is a highly effective cosmetic dental treatment used to enhance the appearance of your smile. It involves applying a tooth‑coloured resin to the surface of the teeth, which is then shaped, sculpted, and polished to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. This versatile treatment can improve a wide range of concerns, including:

• Malaligned or uneven teeth

• Worn or shortened tooth edges

How is Composite Bonding Carried Out?

 

At our practice, composite bonding is carried out by Dupinder Kaur, who has recently completed an advanced composite bonding course. She offers two techniques depending on your needs: freehand bonding and stent‑assisted bonding.

1. Freehand Application:
    

   • Consultation:  Your journey begins with a detailed consultation where Dupinder assesses your teeth, listens to your goals, and discusses the best approach for your smile.
      

   • Preparation: The tooth surface is gently etched and conditioned to ensure the bonding material adheres securely.
      

   • Application: Dupinder applies the composite resin directly to the tooth, carefully sculpting it to achieve the ideal shape, symmetry, and contour.
      

   • Curing: A specialised curing light is used to harden the resin.
      

   • Finishing Touches: The tooth is polished to a smooth, natural finish that blends perfectly with your surrounding teeth.
      

2. Stent-Assisted Application:
    

   • Consultation and Impressions: Impressions or digital scans of your teeth are taken and sent to the dental lab to create custom stents.
      

   • Preparation: The tooth is prepared in the same way as the freehand technique.
      

   • Application Using Stents: The stents act as precise moulds, ensuring uniformity and accuracy. Composite resin is placed within the stent to create the ideal tooth shape.
      

   • Curing and Polishing: The resin is hardened, the stent is removed, and the final polish is completed for a flawless finish.
      

3D Scans and Smile Previews

We can also provide 3D digital scans and simulated images to show you what your smile could look like after treatment. This preview service is available for a small additional fee and is an excellent way to visualise your results before starting treatment.
