Why do I need a dental check-up?
A check-up allows your dentist to assess your dental health and identify any problems early. Addressing issues promptly can prevent them from becoming more serious and harder to treat.
What happens during a dental check-up?
During a check-up, the dentist will:
-
Examine your teeth, gums, and mouth.
-
Ask about your general health and any concerns you may have.
-
Discuss good oral hygiene practices and how to maintain them.
-
Outline any necessary treatments and schedule follow-up visits if needed.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
The frequency of your check-ups depends on your risk of developing dental problems. It could range from every 3 months to every 2 years. Higher-risk patients require more frequent visits.
Dental Fillings
Fillings are used to repair fractures or cavities in teeth. We offer various filling materials on the NHS, including amalgam, composite, and glass ionomer. The choice of material depends on the tooth and the extent of the cavity or fracture.
We also offer white cosmetic fillings on a private basis, which can be used for:
-
Closing gaps
-
Altering the shape of a tooth
-
Replacing old grey fillings
Root Canal Treatments (RCTs)
Root canal treatment is a procedure to save a tooth that is severely damaged or infected. The treatment involves:
-
Removing the infected or damaged pulp from inside the tooth.
-
Cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth.
-
Filling and sealing the tooth to prevent further infection. RCTs can prevent the need for tooth extraction and help maintain your natural smile.
Dentures
Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace missing teeth. We offer both NHS and private dentures.
-
Full Dentures: Cover all of the upper and/or lower arch.
-
Partial Dentures: Replace one or a few teeth on the upper and/or lower arch.
NHS dentures are made of acrylic and covered under Band 3 payment. Private dentures offer additional options and customization.
Crowns and Veneers
Crowns: Tooth-shaped caps placed over damaged teeth, available in ceramic or metal. Crowns provide a permanent, robust solution for restoring tooth function and appearance. We offer both NHS and private crowns.
Veneers: Thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve appearance. Veneers are typically made from durable porcelain and are available privately, with rare NHS availability depending on the necessity.
