Teeth Whitening

What is Tooth Whitening?

Tooth whitening is a safe and effective cosmetic dental procedure designed to lighten the color of your teeth and enhance your smile. At our practice, we use the renowned Boutique Whitening system, which involves custom-made trays for personalized and optimal results. This method ensures that the whitening gel is evenly distributed across your teeth, providing a consistent and dazzling finish.

The Tooth Whitening Process

Our tooth whitening treatment is available with all our clinicians and involves a series of three appointments to ensure the best possible results:

  1. First Appointment: Suitability Assessment and Impressions

    • Consultation: We begin with a thorough examination to determine if you are a suitable candidate for tooth whitening. This involves assessing the health of your teeth and gums and discussing your dental history and whitening goals.

    • Impressions: If you are deemed suitable, we take detailed impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to create custom-made trays that fit your teeth perfectly, ensuring maximum comfort and effectiveness.

  2. Second Appointment: Tray Fitting and Demonstration

    • Fitting: Once your custom trays are ready, you return to the practice for a fitting. This ensures the trays fit snugly and comfortably.

    • Demonstration: Our clinician will demonstrate how to apply the whitening gel to the trays and provide detailed instructions on how to use the whitening system at home.

    • Shade Recording: We take an initial shade measurement of your teeth to monitor your progress and results.

  3. Third Appointment: Review and Shade Assessment

    • Review: After you have used the whitening trays at home, you come back for a follow-up appointment. This allows us to review your progress and address any concerns you may have.

    • Shade Assessment: We take a second shade measurement to compare with the initial shade and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.

Whitening Options

We primarily offer the Boutique Whitening Night Kits, which are highly effective and convenient. These kits require you to wear the whitening trays for a minimum of 5 hours, typically overnight. For those who prefer daytime whitening, we also provide daytime kits that need to be worn for a minimum of 2 hours.

Risks and Considerations

While tooth whitening is generally safe, some patients may experience side effects, including:

  • Gum Irritation: The whitening gel can sometimes cause irritation to the gums. This is usually mild and temporary.

  • Tooth Sensitivity: Increased tooth sensitivity to hot and cold is another common side effect. This sensitivity typically subsides shortly after completing the treatment.

Our clinicians will provide guidance on how to minimize these risks and ensure a comfortable whitening experience.

Composite Bonding

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding is a popular cosmetic dental procedure designed to enhance the appearance of your teeth. It involves the application of a tooth-colored resin material to the teeth, which is then shaped and polished to match the surrounding teeth, creating a natural and beautiful smile. This versatile treatment can address various dental issues, including:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth

  • Discolored teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Misshapen or uneven teeth

  • Worn down tooth edges

How is Composite Bonding Carried Out?

At our practice, Dupinder Kaur, who has recently completed an advanced composite bonding course, offers two main techniques for this procedure: freehand application and the use of stents made from the lab.

  1. Freehand Application:

    • Consultation: The process begins with a thorough consultation where Dupinder assesses your dental needs and discusses your desired outcomes.

    • Preparation: The tooth surface is prepared by lightly etching it to ensure the bonding material adheres properly. A conditioning liquid is applied to aid the bonding process.

    • Application: Dupinder then carefully applies the composite resin directly to the tooth. Using her artistic skills, she sculpts the material to the desired shape and size, ensuring it blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.

    • Curing: Once the desired shape is achieved, a special light is used to harden the resin.

    • Finishing Touches: Finally, the bonded tooth is polished to give it a smooth and natural appearance, matching it perfectly with your other teeth.

  2. Stent-Assisted Application:

    • Consultation and Impressions: During the initial consultation, impressions of your teeth are taken. These impressions are sent to a dental lab to create customized stents.

    • Preparation: Similar to the freehand method, the tooth is prepared for bonding by etching and conditioning.

    • Application Using Stents: The stents, which act as molds, are placed over your teeth. The composite resin is applied within these stents, ensuring precise and consistent results.

    • Curing and Polishing: The resin is hardened with a special light, and the stents are removed. The bonded teeth are then polished for a natural finish.

Why Choose Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding is a minimally invasive, cost-effective way to improve your smile. It requires little to no removal of the natural tooth structure, making it a conservative approach to cosmetic dentistry. The procedure is quick, often completed in a single visit, and offers immediate results with minimal discomfort.

Dupinder Kaur's expertise in composite bonding ensures that you receive personalized, high-quality care tailored to your unique needs. Whether you're looking to repair a minor imperfection or undergo a complete smile makeover, composite bonding can provide the aesthetic enhancement you desire.
